The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce and Medicine Hat Economic Development are co-hosting a meeting discussing priorities to strengthen the Manufacturing, Warehousing & Distribution industry in Southeast Alberta. This will kickoff with a presentation led by MHED on the Business Retention & Expansion – Industry Specific Manufacturing (BREIS – Manufacturing) followed by group discussion on recommendations identified through the process. Business Retention & Expansion – Industry Specific Manufacturing (BREIS – Manufacturing)

A priority of Medicine Hat Economic Development is to support the development of industry in key sectors to drive economic growth in the region. This priority gave rise to BREIS - Manufacturing, a program designed to generate a better understanding of the manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution sectors through a process including business visitation and survey collection; to develop and execute on a list of key projects that would be impactful for the industry; and to connect with businesses in our region so they know where to go if they need support. This project has been underway since March 2024 bringing together several key regional partners to complete the work, including Cypress County, Town of Redcliff, Medicine Hat College, Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce, Palliser Economic Partnership, and Careers: The Next Generation. The surveys are back, the data has been analyzed, and now we are ready to discuss next steps with the industry.
