We are currently seeking a qualified Client Manager, Agriculture to join our team in Medicine Hat. This role is ideal for a CPA with experience in agricultural compilations and industry specific programs.  


Position Purpose: 

The Client Manager, Agriculture will be responsible for leading our growing Agriculture portfolio, serving as the primary advisor for grain, cattle, mixed-farm, and ag-services clients. In this role, you will provide year-round support on financial reporting, tax compliance, strategic planning, and agriculture-specific programs such as AgriStability and AgriInvest. You will ensure accurate and compliant financial statements and tax filings, while also leading engagements, overseeing workflow and quality control, and mentoring junior staff. Working closely with Principals, you will play a key role in refining the firm’s ag-specific processes and delivering high-value advisory services to our farm and agri-business clients.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Management – Serve as the day-to-day contact for a book of farm and ag-business clients; coordinate engagements from planning through file review and delivery.


2. Financial Reporting & Assurance – Prepare and/or review NTR and review-engagement statements; ensure accuracy and consistency with CPA Canada standards.


3. Tax & Program Advisory – Complete personal and corporate returns, GST filings, and optimize program participation (AgriStability, AgriInvest, AFSC lending, etc.).


4. Planning & Analysis – Provide proactive strategies on succession, land-purchase structuring, inventory valuation, and cash-flow management.


5. Staff Leadership – Train and supervise staff accountants and summer students on ag-specific files; perform preliminary file reviews to maintain quality and efficiency.


6. Process Improvement – Recommend technology, workflow, and template enhancements to keep our ag practice leading-edge.


7. Community Engagement – Represent EBT at producer meetings, trade shows, and local ag events.


Qualifications and Experience: 

- CPA designation (required)

- 5+ years of public practice experience

- 3+ years of experience providing services to agricultural clients or working in agri-business

- Strong knowledge of GAAP, agricultural tax laws, government subsidy programs (AgriInvest, AgriStability), and industry-specific reporting

- Proficiency in AgExpert, Caseware, QuickBooks, Taxprep, and Microsoft Office Suite

- Proven ability to manage client relationships, lead staff, and deliver high-quality work
