Restaurant Float (Front-of-House, Serving, Cooking, Hostess)

Job Summary:

The Restaurant Float is a versatile team member responsible for covering various roles within the restaurant, including front-of-house operations, serving, cooking, and hosting. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong multitasking skills to ensure smooth restaurant operations and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Front-of-House Duties:

  • Assist with customer service, including greeting and seating guests.
  • Handle guest inquiries, reservations, and waitlist management.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining and lobby areas.
  • Support bussing and resetting tables as needed.

2. Serving Duties:

  • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Deliver food and beverages promptly while ensuring quality presentation.
  • Provide menu recommendations and accommodate special requests or dietary needs.
  • Process payments and handle cash/credit transactions.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction and address concerns professionally.

3. Cooking Duties:

  • Prepare and cook menu items following restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety procedures.
  • Assist with food prep, stocking, and kitchen organization.
  • Monitor food quality and presentation before service.

4. Host/Hostess Duties:

  • Greet guests with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
  • Manage seating arrangements and communicate wait times effectively.
  • Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service flow.
  • Maintain knowledge of daily specials, menu changes, and restaurant promotions.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality role preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to different roles as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic cooking and food preparation knowledge.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Must be a team player and willing to help in all areas of the restaurant.
  • Availability for flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a kitchen environment with heat, noise, and fast-paced movement.
