Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre will visit Medicine Hat next week to attend a business-focused event held by the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce and MP Glen Motz.
According to a press release Thursday, Motz has invited business leaders, community leaders, elected officials and residents to join in on a discussion highlighting the country’s economic future, as well as politics that influence business growth.
The event – An Evening with Pierre Poilievre: Building a Strong, More Competitive Canada for Business – goes Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the theatre at Medicine Hat College, and doors will open 30 minutes prior to the event.
“It’s an honour to welcome the Honourable Pierre Poilievre, leader of Canada’s Official Opposition, to our region and hear his vision for building a stronger Canada,” said Motz.
Discussion topics are expected to include economic competitiveness and productivity, business investment and economic growth, trade, market access, transportation connectivity, energy, agriculture, manufacturing, resource development, workforce attraction and more.
“Strong communities are built on strong businesses,” Chamber president Aaron Fleming said in a statement. “Our role as a Chamber is to create opportunities for informed discussion, bring decision-makers and business leaders together and ensure the voice of business is represented in conversations about Canada’s future.
“This event provides an important opportunity to hear perspectives on economic priorities that impact businesses and communities across southeast Alberta.”
Fleming says the chamber encourages business owners, professionals and community leaders to attend.
