Seconds Save Lives – Final Stretch of the MHHF Cardiac Campaign 

For the last 18 months, the Medicine Hat Health Foundation has been leading our most ambitious fundraiser ever, Seconds Save Lives. This campaign is a push to raise $1.2 million to replace and upgrade aging cardiac care equipment at the regional hospital. With the help of our community, we’ve come a long way toward that goal – but we’re not there yet.

Since the start of this campaign, the MHHF has reinvested over $1.2 million into local cardiac care – and now we’re in reach of our final stretch goals, requiring just $400,000 more. We’re grateful to say that the last goal we have in our list is to update the monitors for the Surgical and Recovery suites.

Having the same style of monitors throughout the hospital also allows for easier patient transport, as they can simply bring the equipment between departments (e.g., Emergency to the surgical suite) instead of changing machines just for the move. As any doctor, nurse, or aide will tell you, there is simply no equivalent to having a fully functional, reliable heart monitor where it is needed. They are used 24/7/365, and they are a first line of support in patient care – saving lives today and making better care decisions possible for the future.
