About

SafeLink Alberta (formerly HIV Community Link/AIDS Calgary) is a non-profit organization formed in 1983. We work from an evidence-based harm reduction framework and we provide programs and services that promote safer sex and safer substance use, in order to reduce rates of sexually transmitted and blood borne infections such as HIV or Hepatitis C.

Our programs include: a drop-in space, street outreach, case management, education and training, and peer support groups. Our services are low-barrier, and non-judgmental – we meet people where they are at. We recognize that each individual is a person first and deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

SafeLink Alberta, formerly known as HIV Community Link and AIDS Calgary, is a non-profit organization that has been serving and advocating for priority populations in Calgary and southern Alberta since 1983. Our mission is to reduce the risks associated with sexual activity and substance use through low-barrier, non-judgmental, and informed programs and services. Our priority populations include gay, bi, and other men who have sex with men, people living with HIV, people who use substances, Indigenous community members, African, Caribbean, and Black community members, people engaged in sex work, and pregnant individuals with reproductive health needs.

SafeLink Alberta prioritizes public health and empowers individuals, including people with lived and living experience, to make informed choices about their well-being. Our programs include drop-in services, STBBI testing and treatment, street-based outreach, case management and systems navigation, peer support, and education for key populations at increased health risk.
